In case of emergency

In emergencies abroad, local authorities are responsible for foreign visitors. For urgent assistance, contact the rescue authorities: police, fire and rescue service, ambulance (call 112 within the EU). In large-scale crisis follow information in the local media and observe the instructions provided by the local authorities.

If consular assistance needed for Lithuanian nationals or unrepresented EU citizens abroad, please contact Lithuanian diplomatic missions in the following emergencies:

  • loss of travel document,
  • detention or arrest,
  • illness or accident,
  • death of a Lithuanian national,
  • criminal offence,
  • relief and repatriation in a large-scale crisis,
  • establishment of out-of-family care or adoption.

In locations with no Lithuanian mission, in case of emergency Lithuanian nationals can receive consular assistance at the diplomatic/consular mission of any EU Member State. The website of the European Commission offers detailed information about diplomatic/consular missions of EU Member States abroad.
