The priorities of the Lithuanian EU Presidency were presented in Latvia

On 10 July Ambassador of Lithuania to Latvia Ričardas Degutis at the European Commission Representation in Riga presented the Lithuanian EU Presidency priorities to the representatives of the Latvian state institutions, non-governmental organizations and media as well as to the members of the diplomatic corps. During his presentation, Ambassador highlighted the priorities of the Lithuanian EU Presidency, stressing the most important tasks in the agenda - financial stability, sustainable economic growth, job creation, energy security, focus on the digital market, openness and cooperation with the EU neighbors and strategic partners. The event was attended and the addresses were also delivered by Ms. Inna Šteinbuka, the Head of the Representation of the EC in Latvia, H.E. Mr. Aidan Kirwan, Ambassador of Ireland to Latvia and Ms Kristīne Našeniece, Director of the EU Co-ordination Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia.

Lithuania is the first among the Baltic States on 1 July 2013 for the first time taking over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Latvia and Estonia takes their turn in the first half of 2015 and 2018.
