Lithuanians invites Latvians to enjoy Lithuanian films in Latvia
On 25 September the Lithuanian Film Days Program started in the Latvian City Rēzekne. Looking back over the films produced by the Lithuanian movies producers from previous generations, it was said that spectators after watching them were able to distinguish the Lithuanian film. Latvian spectators will have the possibility to assess whether this opinion is still true today, especially taking into consideration the fact that within the last twenty years the Lithuanian films have experienced essential change of generations. The proposed program of Lithuanian films comes to be a short, started since 1990s history of the development of the Lithuanian modern film. In his welcoming address at the opening of the event the Lithuanian Ambassador Ričardas Degutis was particulary glad that the Lithuanian Film days Program starts in Latgalia Region, for the Lithuanians considered to be the closest part of Latvia. The Films Days Program was presented by the Lithuanian Film Director, the organizer of Films Festivals Arturas Jevdokimovas, at the opening event also participated the Film Director Raimundas Banionis.
The Latvian spectators will be able to assess eight works of the Lithuanian authors': "Children of the" American hotel" (directed by Raimundas Banionis), “Collectress "and " Aurora” (both directed by Kristina Buožytė)," Zero 2 "(directed by Emilis Vėlyvis), “Tadas Blinda: The Beginning "(directed by Donatas Ulvydas)," Three Days " and " Eastern Drift "(both directed by Šarūnas Bartas)," Barzakh" (directed by Mantas Kvedaravičius).
The Lithuanian Films Days Program will last in Rēzekne till 28 September. Later this Program will move to other Latvian cities - Ventspils (1-2, and 4-5 October), Daugavpils (17-20 October) and Jelgava (27 October).
Lithuanian Films Days Program was initiated by the Lithuanian Embassy in Latvia and implemented in cooperation with the Latvian cultural institutions.
