These „exchange of diplomats“ is a practical implementation of the Nordic-Baltic initiative on the placement of diplomats in missions of other Nordic or Baltic states in third countries. On August 30, 2011, Nordic Baltic countries signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the posting of diplomats at each other’s missions abroad. The Memorandum makes it easier for the Nordic and Baltic countries to maintain a diplomatic presence around the world by enabling flexible and cost-effective solutions.
Lithuania is coordinating the Nordic-Baltic cooperation in 2012 (NB8 format includes 8 countries: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden).
The Republic of Lithuania opened the Embassy in the Republic of Moldova on January 1, 2006. The address of the Embassy‘s website is //md.mfa.lt
