Minister L. Linkevičius: Responsible state behavior in cyberspace must be ensured

On 23 September, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius attended the second Ministerial Meeting on Advancing Responsible State Behavior in Cyberspace. The event was hosted by the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State John J. Sullivan.
“Lithuania supports efforts by the U.S., EU, and other like-minded countries to ensure stability in cyberspace based on international law and the implementation of universal norms. Only a multilateral system based on international rules can help address cyber challenges,” said the Minister L. Linkevičius.
Lithuania, along with 25 other countries, joined the joint statement by the U.S., the Netherlands, and Australia, affirming a continued commitment to building an open, free, and secure cyberspace.
On the margins of the event, the Minister L. Linkevičius met with the Ambassador Philip T. Reeker, Acting Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs. The officials discussed transatlantic relations, security challenges facing the Eastern European region, as well as the strategic partnership between Lithuania and the U.S.
